Game Night At Home

Game Night At Home

Welcome to the very first themed menu here on the blog! This idea has been in the works for awhile, and I’m excited to finally bring it to life today. One of the most common questions I’m asked is what dishes go well together and how do you plan all of the prep + cooking so that every dish comes out ready to go at the same time.

I initially wanted to roll these menus out with the idea of entertaining, throwing dinner parties, hosting a holiday meal, etc. But since the world is a little different right now and we’re all sheltered at home, I’m starting with some “stay at home” menus to hopefully give you something to look forward to over the weekends.

First up: game night at home. It’s a simple menu that combines my ultimate spring grazing board and my easy double chocolate fudge brownies. The perfect bites to snack on all night long as you hunker down with your favorite games.

the menu…

This menu serves 4 people, but can easily be modified if you’re cooking for less people. Simply adjust the grazing board amounts by cutting the avocado dip and asparagus toast recipes in half and buying smaller amounts of the remaining board ingredients. And the brownies? Well, I’d say make the whole batch because who wouldn’t want leftover brownies?!

the kitchen plan…

Let’s say you want to start your game night by 7pm.

    • 5:50pm: Gather all of the ingredients for the brownies.
    • 6pm: Prep some of the grazing board ingredients – slice the sourdough, peel + slice the asparagus, zest and juice the lemon, wash the strawberries and radishes.
    • 6:15pm: Whip up the brownie batter and spread the batter into your baking dish so they’re ready to go.
    • 6:30pm: Remove your cheeses and meats from the fridge. Slice the cheese. Gather all of the other grazing board ingredients and have them ready to go.
    • 6:35pm: Start the asparagus prosciutto toast.
    • 6:40pm: Make the avocado dip. Spoon it into a serving bowl and place a piece of plastic wrap directly over top to prevent it from browning. Store in the fridge until you’re ready to eat.
    • 6:50pm: Assemble the toast and put the grazing board together.
    • 7pm: Serve the board, throw the brownies in the oven, and start your game night.
    • 7:30pm: Remove the brownies from the oven; let cool for 15 minutes.
    • 7:45pm: Slice the brownies and serve warm.Note: I love eating these brownies fresh out of the oven. But, of course, you can make them ahead of time. I do still suggest warming them up before you serve.
