Homemade Guacamole

yield: approximately 3 cups of guacamole


  • 8 medium ripe avocados, halved and pitted
  • ½ cup diced red onion
  • 2 jalapeños, stemmed + minced
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 4 limes, juiced
  • 1 ½ tsp kosher salt
  • tortilla chips, for serving


  1. Scoop out the avocado flesh into a bowl and discard the skins. Use a large fork to roughly mash the avocado until almost smooth, yet still full of texture.
  2. Mix in the red onion, jalapeños, garlic, cilantro, lime juice, and salt. Taste the guacamole and season with more lime or salt if desired.
  3. Transfer the guacamole to a serving bowl. Serve with tortilla chips.
